DELTA AIR LINES INTRODUCES SIGNIFICANTLY
LOWER FARE STRUCTURE AT LEXINGTON'S BLUE GRASS AIRPORT
Lexington, KY On January 5, 2005, Delta Air
Lines introduced a simplified fare structure for every city
it serves throughout the United States including Lexington.
The program, called SimpliFares, reduces the number fare classifications,
lowers business class fares, eliminates Saturday night stay
requirements and allows the airline to provide customers with
affordable fares and unparalleled convenience.
The introduction of the simplified fare structure has significantly
reduced most fares in Lexington; some fares reflect reductions
of as much as 50% or more. For example, the price of a seven-day
advance purchase fare for a mid-week journey from Lexington
to Atlanta, GA has been reduced from $957 to $190. Similar
savings can be found in most of Lexington's top markets.
"As a result of SimpliFares, Central Kentucky travelers
will no longer need to drive to distant airports to find competitive
fares. A majority of Lexington's fares are now priced within
$50 of similar fares offered by other airports; saving our
customers time and money," said Michael Gobb, Executive
Director, Blue Grass Airport.
Fares are available for sale now from local travel agents,
internet websites, www.delta.com and by calling Delta reservations
at 800-221-1212.
Serving over one million passengers each year, Blue Grass
Airport's five airlines provide daily nonstop air service
to 12 destinations and hundreds of connections to cities worldwide.
In 2003, Blue Grass Airport was recognized as the fifth fastest
growing airport in the nation and continues to serve as a
model among small community airports for security technology,
marketing and community outreach.
