BLUE GRASS AIRPORT TO HOST SEMINAR TO ASSIST SMALL BUSINESSES
COMPETE FOR AIRPORT PROJECTS
Lexington's Blue Grass Airport is pleased to announce plans
to conduct a Small Business Opportunities Seminar designed
to assist small and disadvantaged Central Kentucky companies
in becoming airport contractors.
In 2004, Blue Grass Airport will begin the initial phases
of a comprehensive $65 million capital improvement program
to include the construction of a six-gate terminal addition,
the introduction of an airport executive lounge, substantial
runway and airfield improvements and various terminal interior
enhancements. Small businesses in Central Kentucky will have
numerous opportunities to bid and compete for work associated
with projects slated for the airport which are expected to
continue through 2008.
In an effort to maximize the positive economic impact of
this multi-year improvement program Blue Grass Airport will
conduct a Small Business Opportunities Seminar to provide
attendees with a brief description of the projects at the
airport from 2004-2008 and an overview of how work will be
divided and contracts awarded. The airport will also discuss
various State and Federal government requirements of airport
contractors.
The first seminar will be conducted at Blue Grass Airport
on February 11, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the airport
Media Room. Attendance at the first seminar will be limited
to 45 persons to allow ample time for questions and discussion.
If needed, an additional seminar will be scheduled on March
10, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the airport. To assist
companies who are unable to attend the seminar Blue Grass
Airport will videotape the event and place downloadable copies
of the video and all handouts at www.bluegrassairport.com.
Reservations for Blue Grass Airports Small Business
Opportunities Seminar can be made by calling Commerce Lexington
at (859) 254-4447. Parking at the airport will be validated
at the event.
