BLUE
GRASS AIRPORT BEGINS MARSHMALLOW MANIA CONTEST Next time you fly out
of Blue Grass Airport don't be surprised if the talk of the terminal revolves
around marshmallows! Travelers, especially those age 14 and under, are all trying
to answer Blue Grass Airports' latest trivia question: How many marshmallows does
it take to create a straight line from the end of existing Concourse B to the
end of the new Concourse B? As part of a $15.5 million six-gate addition
to Concourse B, the airport is challenging all kids to take a peek out of a construction
window to determine the answer to this puzzling question. Each month for the remainder
of the year, the child who comes closest to the exact figure will be the lucky
recipient of a Blue Grass Airport TravelPak, designed especially for kids! Entry
forms are available in Concourse B, so next time you fly make sure you stop by
with the kids so they can enter to win. "With so many children passing
through the airport during Spring Break and the upcoming summer travel season,
we are eager to engage them in our exciting construction projects," said
Michael Gobb, executive director of Blue Grass Airport. "Our younger passengers
are just as important to us as members of the adult community. We want them to
have an interactive experience while waiting for their flight." Upon
completion in 2007, Concourse B will include six new passenger gatesall
with covered jet bridgesas well as a new retail shop, restrooms, interior
furnishings, flooring and wall coverings. Blue Grass Airport is currently in the
first phase of construction, which includes work on the aircraft ramp, a re-design
of drainage around the new addition and the construction of the shell of the gate
addition. The gate addition is needed to accommodate current and future flight
operations and allow for more efficient flow of passengers through the terminal. Blue
Grass Airport is served by six major airline brands providing convenient non-stop
service to 13 major hub cities with direct service to hundreds of destinations
worldwide. The airport proudly serves over one million central and eastern Kentucky
travelers each year. |
