Delta Connection Begins New Non Stop Service from Lexington to New York’s LaGuardia Airport

Lexington, KY - Delta Connection carrier Comair today celebrated the launch of daily, non-stop round-trip jet service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, KY. Comair now operates one daily flight to New York using the very popular 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet. Tickets are on sale now.

“The announcement of nonstop jet service to LaGuardia Airport is the culmination of three years of work on behalf of the airport and companies across Central Kentucky to demonstrate that Lexington is indeed a market of untapped potential for new and expanded air service. Now customers have an easy option that allows for same day roundtrip travel to the Big Apple!,” said airport board member Jeff Woods.

“LaGuardia Airport is a slot controlled airport which means they have set a maximum number of daily flights allowed to use the airport. Winning slots into LaGuardia has been the focus of intense competition among cities for years. We are pleased to announce today that Lexington has won access to LGA. Delta now provides the first service to LaGuardia airport from Lexington since 1983”, said airport marketing manager Tom Tyra.

Executive Director, Michael Gobb said, “The business community has repeatedly asked for more flights, lower fares and convenient to service to cities like New York. The announcement of new service to LaGuardia marks the sixth new destination introduced in Lexington in the last 30 months. Blue Grass Airport now serves more non stop cities than in any time in its 56-year history.”
