BLUE GRASS AIRPORT TO HOST
PUBLIC INFORMATION WORKSHOP
& HEARING
Environmental Assessment for Proposed
Runway Replacement

April 29, 2008 – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board (LFUCAB) anticipates requesting federal assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration for eligible improvement projects at the airport to achieve the relocation and realignment of Runway 8-26 in a 9-27 orientation. The runway would be shifted to the west of current Runway 8-26 by approximately 1,900 feet to eliminate the intersection with Runway 4-22. The alignment would also be rotated slightly to the 9-27 orientation to take advantage of existing topography, while still providing adequate crosswind coverage. Development of this runway would include: acquisition of approximately 120 acres of land, including two residences, a full parallel taxiway, a reconstructed Taxiway C and a remote aircraft parking area. In addition, the LFUCAB proposes to construct General Aviation facilities for light single- and multi-engine piston aircraft adjacent to proposed Runway 9-27. Relocation and realignment of Runway 8-26 would enable the terminal access road (Terminal Drive) to be relocated, and to provide the needed space for expanding public and employee parking areas.

The Public Information Workshop and Hearing will be held on May 6, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel—The Campbell House on 1375 South Broadway in Lexington, Kentucky. It will be held in an informal open house format with a brief slide presentation scheduled from 6 pm to 6:30 pm. Representatives from the Airport and the Study Team will be available throughout the evening to talk with citizens about the environmental review. Graphics will be on display so citizens can review presentation details. A hearing officer and stenographer will be recording testimony at the hearing. A transcript will be made of all formal comments received. Written comments may also be submitted at the public hearing. Additional written comments will be accepted no later than the end of normal business hours on May 20, 2008.

Written comments may be directed to: Steve Culberson, Ricondo & Associates, Inc., 20 North Clark Street, Suite 1500, Chicago, Illinois 60602, or submitted by email to BlueGrassAirportEA@ricondo.com. Those interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact Elizabeth Trawick of EHI Consultants at 859.425.4881 at least two days prior to the meeting.
