BLUE GRASS AIRPORT REPORTS STRONG PASSENGER TRAVEL IN APRIL
New Air Service Increases Passenger
Boardings by 21%

April 26, 2010 – With more than 46,783 passengers departing Blue Grass Airport in April 2010, the airport experienced one of its busiest months in airport history. Passenger traffic increased 21% compared to the same month last year. In April 2009, 38,475 passengers were recorded.

“With new non-stop service from AirTran Airways to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando, additional flights from Allegiant Air and new service to Chicago on American Airlines, central Kentucky customers have been enjoying affordable options for leisure and business travel,” said Eric Frankl, executive director of Blue Grass Airport. “We are pleased to see such a strong increase in the airport’s traffic and are glad that our customers are finding attractive fares. We hope the community will continue to support these new flights in the future.”

Blue Grass Airport is now home to two low-cost carriers, AirTran Airways and Allegiant Air. AirTran Airways recently joined Blue Grass Airport as its newest airline in February 2010. With non-stop, low-cost service to Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, customers can enjoy affordable business class upgrades, wireless internet access and one of the world’s youngest Boeing-aircraft fleets. Allegiant Air provides non-stop service to Clearwater/St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) and Orlando on 150-seat passenger jets.

In addition, American Airlines complemented its existing Dallas service with two daily non-stop flights to Chicago O’Hare. Service began April 6, 2010, and American Airlines has been celebrating by offering passengers double AAdvantage frequent flier miles for Chicago travel through June 30, 2010.

Blue Grass Airport, the Official Airport of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, is served by seven major airlines providing convenient non-stop service to 13 major hub cities and connecting service to hundreds of destinations worldwide.
