Blue Grass Airport Receives National Award for Excellence
in Government Accounting and Financial Reporting
Lexington, KY - The Lexington-Fayette Urban County
Airport Board, the corporation that manages Blue Grass Airport
in Lexington, KY, has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement
for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2003 Comprehensive
Annual Financial Report. The award, presented by the Government
Finance Officers Association (GFOA), represents the highest
form of recognition in the area of government accounting.
The impartial panel appointed by the GFOA, a nonprofit professional
association, serving 15,000 government finance professionals,
noted that Blue Grass Airport’s Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report demonstrated “a constructive spirit of full disclosure”
and effectively communicated its financial story to user groups.
“We are pleased to accept this award, which reflects the
exceptional standards for quality in financial reporting set
forth by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board
and John Rhodes, the Director of Administration and Finance
for Blue Grass Airport,” said Michael Gobb, Executive Director
of Blue Grass Airport.
