AIRPORT BOARD WELCOMES DORIS BENSON AND LARRY DEENER AS NEW BOARD MEMBERS
July 28, 2010 – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is pleased to welcome new members Doris Benson and Larry Deener. Ms. Benson’s and Mr. Deener’s four-year appointment to the Airport Board was confirmed by Urban County Council on Thursday, July 8, 2010.
Ms. Benson is president of Langley Properties Company, a commercial real estate development entity headquartered in Lexington, with properties in Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Although the main focus of the business has been development or re-development of shopping centers, the portfolio also consists of office, warehousing and manufacturing buildings as well as restaurants. Local properties are The Mall at Lexington Green and 300 West Vine, formerly known as Kincaid Towers. Ms. Benson is an equity partner and has served as president for 20 of the 30-plus years she has been with Langley Properties Company.
Mr. Deener, current partner and previous managing partner at the law firm of Landrum & Shouse, specializes in products liability, railroad, insurance defense and automobile-related litigation. He is a previous member of The Aviation Museum of Kentucky Board of Trustees, past president of the Lexington Philharmonic Society and is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve. Mr. Deener is also a single engine airplane and glider pilot.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. Its 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and approved by the Urban County Council.
