US AIRWAYS EXPRESS ANNOUNCES NEW NON-STOP SERVICE BETWEEN LEXINGTON AND WASHINGTON DC, ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS TO CHARLOTTE, NC

Lexington, KY - US Airways Express has announced new non-stop air service between Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) beginning October 22, 2001.

US Airways Express carrier Piedmont Airlines will operate the new service using 37-seat DeHavilland Dash-8 aircraft. The new flight will depart Lexington at 6:50 a.m., and will arrive in Washington at 8:45 a.m. From Washington, the flight will depart at 6:25 p.m., and will arrive in Lexington at 8:25 p.m.

“With the addition of this conveniently timed flight to Washington DC, business and leisure travelers alike will be able to travel on the only non-stop service between Lexington and our nation’s capital. We are delighted to be able to introduce this new service to our Lexington and Washington area travelers,” said Thomas M. Hanley, US Airways Express vice president.

In addition, US Airways has also announced upgraded service between Lexington and Charlotte, NC beginning October 15, 2001. The airline will increase service from three departures to five daily flights; a 90% increase in the number of seats offered in the market. The additional flights will utilize state-of-the-art 50-seat regional jets.

In the last nine months the airport has announced new non-stop service to four cities and upgraded service to three other destinations,” said Michael Gobb, Executive Director, Blue Grass Airport. “Washington DC has ranked among our region’s most frequented cities and one of the most sought after destinations in the country.
