BLUE GRASS AIRPORT WINS NATIONAL MARKETING AWARDS
August 19, 2009 – Airports Council International—North America (ACI-NA) has selected Blue Grass Airport as the recipient of two awards in its 2009 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest. Blue Grass Airport received First Place Award for Best Print Advertising Campaign and Third Place Award for Best Email Newsletter.
“We are proud to be recognized for our achievements in marketing and communications,” said Eric Frankl, interim executive director at Blue Grass Airport. “We strive to provide a high level of communication to our customers, stakeholders and the traveling public. The airport’s email newsletter and My Time, My Airport advertising campaign highlight the ease of traveling at Blue Grass Airport and serve as valuable tools in keeping our customers informed.”
This year, 62 airports submitted almost 250 entries in the contest, which encompasses categories that recognize work in marketing and public relations, and provides airports the opportunity to be honored for the quality of their work. Awards are distributed in 20 categories ranging from brochures, advertising, marketing and public relations campaigns, newsletters, special events, video and film productions, to websites. Over a nine-day period, 31 communications and marketing professionals from the Washington, D.C.-area served as judges to review the entries submitted.
“ACI-NA congratulates the winners of the 2009 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest,” said ACI-NA President Greg Principato. “These award-winning entries help promote a positive view of airports throughout their communities and North America. The contest allows airports to showcase their best marketing and communications efforts that serve their stakeholders, including the flying public, airline partners, tenants, and employees.”
Since its inception in 1990, the contest has generated tremendous interest throughout the industry. Award winners will be recognized at the ACI-NA 18th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Austin, Texas, October 14, during the Chairman’s Honors Luncheon.
Blue Grass Airport, Official Airport of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, is served by six major airlines providing convenient non-stop service to 12 major hub cities with connecting service to hundreds of destinations worldwide.
