Delta Connection Announces New Nonstop Service to Orlando,
FL from Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport
Lexington, KY Beginning December 1, 2004, Delta
Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines, will operate one
daily flight between Orlando, FL and Lexington, KY providing
Central Kentucky customers with the only non-stop service
between the two cities and the first nonstop service to be
offered from Lexington to the popular Florida destination.
Chautauqua will operate the flight using 50-seat Embraer Regional
Jet aircraft.
"We are thrilled to join Delta Connection in making
this significant announcement. Jet service to Orlando has
been a dream for many travelers in Central Kentucky for quite
some time. We are pleased to welcome Delta’s newest nonstop
destination from Lexington," said Michael Gobb, Executive
Director, Blue Grass Airport.
In addition to the new service to Orlando, Delta will also
upgrade its current service to Atlanta by replacing two 66-seat
ATR turbo prop aircraft with two 142-seat McDonnell Douglas
MD80 aircraft.
Central Kentucky travelers continue to respond positively
to recent air service additions to Lexington. In fact, in
2003 Blue Grass was ranked as the fifth fastest growing airport
in the nation.
