AIRPORT BOARD WELCOMES LES KIMBROUGH
AS NEW BOARD MEMBER

September 16, 2009 – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is pleased to welcome new member Leslie (Les) K. Kimbrough.  Mr. Kimbrough’s four-year appointment to the Airport Board was confirmed by Urban County Council on Thursday, August 27, 2009.

Mr. Kimbrough owns and operates Kimbrough & Associates, LLC, a real estate investment company with diversified holdings in Kentucky, Florida and Georgia.  From 1979 until his retirement in 2003, Les served as an AFLAC insurance executive.  Mr. Kimbrough is actively involved in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for the Bank of Lexington, Commerce Lexington, Urban League of Lexington-Fayette County, Bluegrass Community Foundation, Downtown Lexington Corporation, LexArts, Commercial Property Association of Lexington and AFLAC Federal Credit Union.  He is also a Founder and Chairman of the Board of National Diversity Solutions.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Kimbrough to the Airport Board,” said Bobby Owens, chairman of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board.  “Les has outstanding leadership skills and is actively involved in the community.  He will be a valuable member of our board.”

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport.  Its 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and approved by the Urban County Council.

Blue Grass Airport, the Official Airport of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, is served by six major airlines providing convenient non-stop serve to 12 major hub cities and connecting service to hundreds of destinations worldwide.
