New Cell Phone Waiting Lot Opens at Blue Grass Airport

Lexington, KY – Blue Grass Airport is pleased to announce the opening of a new Cell Phone Waiting Lot to accommodate individuals trying to connect with arriving passengers. To ensure the safety of its passengers and provide enhanced security, the airport now only permits active passenger loading and unloading in front of the terminal. Individuals who are waiting for arriving guests are encouraged to try the new Cell Phone Waiting Lot as a free alternative parking option.

"The airport is continuously seeking new amenities to offer passengers and guests," said Michael Gobb, executive director at Blue Grass Airport. "Although it is no longer feasible for the airport to permit curbside waiting, this new Cell Phone Waiting Lot will provide individuals with the opportunity to wait in their vehicle until their party contacts them via cell phone. At that time, drivers can then meet them at the curb for active loading."

The Cell Phone Waiting Lot will be located on the driver's right side as he/she enters the airport property via Terminal Drive. This lot, also used for overflow employee parking, will contain spaces designated for "Cell Phone Waiting." Drivers must remain in their vehicle at all times and are only permitted to pull up to the terminal curb when their party is at the curb and ready for active loading.

If individuals are not interested in using the new Cell Phone Waiting Lot, additional options also exist. Individuals may park in the short-term parking facility and can either meet their party inside the terminal by the baggage claim area or remain in their car.
