AIRPORT BOARD WELCOMES ROSZALYN AKINS
AS NEW BOARD MEMBER


September 26, 2007 – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board welcomes new member Roszalyn Akins. Akins begins serving a four-year term in September 2007 and is replacing outgoing Airport Board member Dick DeCamp.

Ms. Akins served as an educator in the Fayette County School System for 27 years and although she has retired, she still continues to give of her service as a consultant. During her tenure, she has taught at Leestown Middle School, Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and has now returned to Leestown Middle School as Dean of Students.

Roszalyn Akins is an in-demand speaker for women’s conferences in-state and out-of-state. She was listed in “Who’s Who” among Outstanding Women in America, nominated for Outstanding Young Women in Lexington by the Lexington’s Women’s Club and selected Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Fayette County Public School System. She is an active member at First Baptist Church Bracktown, where her husband Rev. Dr. C. B. Akins, Sr. serves as pastor. She is also the mother of two children.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. Its 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and approved by the Urban County Council.

Blue Grass Airport is served by six major airline brands providing convenient non-stop service to 13 major hub cities and direct service to hundreds of destinations worldwide. The airport proudly serves over one million central and eastern Kentucky travelers each year.
