AMERICAN CONNECTION BEGINS JET SERVICE BETWEEN
LEXINGTON AND ST. LOUIS , MO
AmericanConnection, an affiliate of American Airlines has
introduced jet service from Lexingtons Blue Grass Airport.
American Connection is a new airline created by the acquisition
of TWA by American
Airlines earlier this year. The airline has introduced
new jet service between Lexington and St Louis , MO beginning
Thursday November 8, 2001 .
Trans World Express (TWE) previously operated
this service with four daily departures to St Louis utilizing
30-seat Saab 340 airliners. AmericanConnection has enhanced
this service by phasing out TWE turbo-prop aircraft in Lexington
and introducing service by 50-seat Embraer 145 and 44-seat
Embraer 140 regional jets. The service will be operated on
behalf of American by Chautauqua
Airlines.

Chautauqua Airlines. This service provides our customers
with new jet flights to the west and access to the route network
of the largest airline in the world American Airlines.
Airport director Michael Gobb stated, The
addition of new jet service from Lexington in the wake of
recent events is a direct reflection of the attractive opportunities
that exist for airlines in Central Kentucky.
In the last 12 months Blue Grass Airport has
introduced new non-stop service to three destinations, introduced
new or additional jet service in four other markets and increased
daily flights from 76 to 92.
Blue Grass Airport is served by 11 commercial
airlines providing convenient non-stop service to 11 major
gateway cities and direct service to destinations worldwide.
