Blue Grass Airport Receives Bluegrass Tomorrow
Vision Award
Lexington, KY Blue Grass Airport was recently recognized
as Bluegrass Tomorrow's 2005 Vision Award recipient.
The airport, which is managed by the Lexington-Fayette County
Airport Board, was selected for its excellence in improving
airport efficiency and attractiveness while being a positive
partner with its neighbors and the region.
"We are honored to receive such a distinctive award,"
said Michael Gobb, executive director at Blue Grass Airport.
"The Lexington-Fayette County Airport Board and its staff
continuously seek to provide quality air service as well as
customer conveniences and amenities. We thank Bluegrass Tomorrow
for this recognition and look forward to continuing serving
as the region's airport of choice."
The Vision Award winner is selected by Bluegrass Tomorrow
based on the contribution the organization has made to improve
the quality of life in the Bluegrass area and its ability
to promote the vision of a well developed and well preserved
region.
"In recent years, Blue Grass Airport has evolved into
one of the world's most attractive and efficient gateways,"
said Steven Austin of Bluegrass Tomorrow. "Due to the
leadership of the airport board and Executive Director, Michael
Gobb, passenger rates are climbing and non-stop flight choices
are increasing. In fact, Blue Grass Airport ranks as one of
the fastest growing airports in the U.S."
Blue Grass Airport is served by six major airline brands providing
convenient non-stop service to 14 major hub cities with direct
service to hundreds of destinations worldwide. The airport
proudly serves over one million central and eastern Kentucky
travelers each year.
"Due to their work, Bluegrass Tomorrow has determined
that over one-quarter of the world's population is within
one stop of Blue Grass Airport," added Austin. "This
offers the Bluegrass region fantastic economic and social
opportunities that many regions this size, and even larger,
simply do not have."
