Established in 1997, Blue Grass Airport Regional ARFF Training Center is conveniently located in Lexington, Kentucky, providing a safe and cost-efficient way to ensure your department receives quality training. With the needs of the ARFF community in mind, the training center was designed to give a practical approach to learning by offering courses that allow the student the opportunity to benefit from the latest technology, resources and expert instructors with first-hand knowledge in aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF).
This state-of-the-art facility uses aircraft simulators to provide safe, live-fire training scenarios for all emergency response professionals. The simulator—modeled after the Boeing 727 and Airbus A320—can demonstrate 28 different fire scenarios, allowing firefighting professionals to gain comprehensive experience in handling emergency situations. The advanced equipment includes a cockpit with a flight control console, pilot and co-pilot seats, passenger compartments, and wings of various sizes to replicate different aircraft types. The training center also features a 30-foot-long helicopter simulator, modeled after the UH-60 Blackhawk, to prepare responders for the unique challenges of helicopter accident scenarios.
