ARFF Training Center Courses

We are excited to debut a new training center simulator to enhance the training experience for our students. These upgrades will offer additional training options and introduce more advanced equipment, taking our training program to new heights!

Our small class sizes promote a team-building atmosphere and give students the opportunity to take advantage of access to the aircraft simulations at our facility and the expertise of our instructors. We offer a range of classes covering the basics in aircraft rescue and ​firefighting (ARFF) as well as special emphasis, in-demand topics.

Just announced! We will be hosting ARFF 100: Basic Aircraft Rescue Firefighting classes October 14-18 and November 11-15. Register today!

2024 Class Dates: September 23-27, October 14-18 and November 11-15

Learn or review the necessary skills and techniques to perform aircraft rescue firefighting in this 40-hour, weeklong course. Following the curriculum established in AC150/5210-17C (Programs for Training of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Personnel), you will benefit from hands-on training in an environment that consists of half-classroom and half-practical instruction. A class curriculum is available upon request.

Planning to obtain the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certification? We offer an IFSAC certification option that gives you the opportunity to take the written and skills tests, administered by state IFSAC assessment personnel, at the end of the week. The following accreditations are required to attend if seeking IFSAC certification:

  • Firefighting I & II
  • Hazardous Material Awareness
  • Hazardous Material Operations

Copies of certificates must be brought with attendee. Kentucky state firefighters should reference Kentucky State Fire School information for IFSAC testing options. In addition to the course fee, a $25 check payable to the Kentucky State Fire Commission is required. A 30-day notice of desiring an IFSAC Certification must be made prior to the start date of the class. Basic Course: $1,000/student

Basic Course + IFSAC: $1,100/student

An additional $25 must be paid to the Kentucky State Fire Commission for assessor fees.

Contact us today to schedule your recertification live fire drill. Designed to meet FAA requirements for a live fire drill under Part 139.319, this course uses a Fuel Spill Trainer for truck or handline evolutions as requested by attendees to meet department requirements. Cost: $325/student

Schedule your initial certification live fire drill today! Meeting the FAA requirements for a live fire drill under Part 139.319, this course will give you hands-on training using a fuel spill trainer. Documentation must be provided indicating the student has received the required training in the 12 areas required by 14 CRF Part 139 prior to attending this course. Be sure to ask about our additional recommended training simulations, such as wheel and brake fires, interior fires and search and rescue from a regional jet for an additional fee of $100.

Base Cost: $325/student

Cost with Additional Fire Simulations: $425/student

Contact us to schedule your advanced recertification live fire drill. Based on your department’s needs, your live fire drill will consist of the fuel simulator using truck or handline evolutions, in a course designed to meet the FAA requirements for completing a live fire drill within 12 calendar months of the previous live fire drill. We also offer additional training simulations in wheel and brake fires, interior live fire drills and search and rescue from our regional jet. Cost: $425/student

Is your structural fire department looking for ARFF training? This course will show you how to mitigate aircraft accidents and incidents and will discuss topics such as aircraft familiarization, tactics and strategies, rescue techniques, and fire suppression as well as adapting structural equipment for aircraft rescue firefighting. You will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience with live fire drills. This course is currently offered to groups only. Course Length: 8 hours; Cost: $200/student

Learn about the helicopter and responding to accidents involving a helicopter in this special instruction course. During this two-day class, we will discuss topics such as types of accidents, survival factors, occupant injury patterns, safety around helicopters and LZ considerations. The second day will feature a close look at private, EMS, Police and military helicopters with their specific features. Don't miss this opportunity to complete firefighting evolutions on a helicopter simulator!

Course Length: 16 hours; Cost: $325
