February 17, 2026—Blue Grass Airport is pleased to announce a growing presence of United Airlines in Lexington that will bring larger aircraft and greater connectivity for central and southeastern Kentucky travelers.
This summer, United will increase the size of its aircraft on its popular daily flight between Lexington and Denver, upgrading to an Airbus A319 with 126 seats, adding 50+ more seats per day. The larger aircraft will provide more Kentuckians the opportunity to travel, whether to Denver or to connect to other destinations in the western United States, Canada and beyond. United will begin operating this larger aircraft in Lexington on May 21, 2026.
On that same day, United Airlines will increase the number of daily flights between Lexington and Chicago—offering up to seven daily flights this summer during peak travel periods. With greater access to United’s expansive route network to more than 200 destinations through the airline’s Chicago hub, it is even easier for travelers in the Bluegrass to access their favorite destinations in a way that works well with their schedule. Tickets to both Denver and Chicago are on sale now at United.com and in the United mobile app. “Blue Grass Airport is grateful for United Airlines’ continued growth in our region,” said Eric Frankl, president & CEO of Blue Grass Airport. “This larger, more comfortable aircraft and additional Chicago flight provide our passengers with more choices, greater convenience and improved access to destinations across the world. This is a win not only for our passengers today, but also for the long-term future of air service in our region. When travelers choose to fly locally, it supports airlines like United in adding even more flights and opportunities in the years ahead.”
