January 25, 2022—The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is pleased to welcome Marc A. Mathews, C.P.A. as a new board member. Mathews will serve a four-year term on the airport’s 10-member board and is replacing outgoing member Elizabeth Woodward.
Retired from a career exceeding 40 years in accounting and financial management, Marc Mathews most recently served as vice president for finance and business at Transylvania University from March 2009 to June 2021. As the university’s chief financial officer, Mathews was responsible for oversight of its capital debt portfolio, endowment investments, overnight and short-term cash investments and all financial reporting as well as serving as staff to multiple committees of the University Board of Trustees.
Prior to his position at Transylvania University, Mathews served as treasurer and controller at University of Kentucky. He is actively involved in the community, currently serving on the boards of Bank of the Bluegrass and Dupree Mutual Funds. He has previously served as a board member for LexArts and board president of the International Book Project and Volunteer Center of the Bluegrass.
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. Its 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and approved by the Urban County Council.
